Middle East Crisis

Children never start wars, but they are the ones who suffer the most.

As a humanitarian organisation that advocates for the rights of children, we are devastated and horrified by the conflicts in Lebanon and Gaza.

But the recent ceasefire in Gaza offers a critical chance to act. Every moment counts. With your support, we can deliver much-needed food, clean water, and shelter to families in urgent need.

During conflict, it is children who suffer the most

Two devastating conflicts have left families and children in Gaza and Lebanon facing unimaginable horrors – including violence, displacement, hunger, and loss.

In Gaza over 46,707 lives have been lost, sadly 17,580 of those lost were children. More than 21,000 children are injured, many with permanent disabilities, while countless others remain displaced, hungry, and scared.

Meanwhile, in Lebanon, over 111,000 people have been displaced. Families, including children, are sheltering in temporary spaces, many unable to return home.

Across both regions, families are struggling to survive without food, clean water, healthcare, or safety. Children bear the brunt of these crises, facing severe malnutrition, preventable diseases, and long-lasting trauma.

Your donation can bring hope and relief to those who need it most.

Protect children and families from this humanitarian catastrophe

Urgent action needed

The ceasefire is a critical opportunity to scale up these efforts, but the situation in Gaza remains dire:

  • Thousands of children are still separated from their families and need urgent protection from trafficking and exploitation.
  • The destruction of water and sanitation systems has left children at risk of deadly diseases like cholera and diarrhoea.
  • Schools are no longer functional, leaving millions of children without access to education or safe spaces to process their trauma.
  • Families are drinking unsafe water, and healthcare has completely collapsed under the strain of disease outbreaks and severe injuries.

Children will continue to die without urgent action. Help now.

Your support can ensure children receive the care they need. Let’s turn this moment of hope into healing and recovery for children and their families in Gaza.

Protecting children and delivering life-saving aid

Despite the challenges, we are delivering urgent aid, ensuring no child is left behind. Here’s how we’re making an impact:

  • 34,200 hot meals have already been delivered, offering immediate nourishment to displaced families.
  • 1,196 families have received cash assistance to meet pressing needs like food and medicine.
  • 1,950 people have been reached with winterisation kits, including warm blankets and clothing, helping them withstand harsh weather conditions.
  • 1,200 dignity kits for women and girls and 425 food kits have been distributed to families in distress.

Plan International is ready to act. With your support our impact can be even greater.

Your donation will provide emergency food, water, hygiene kits, warm blankets, shelter, and psychosocial support to help families and children recover.

Together, we can bring lifesaving relief and hope to children who need us most.

Help children and their families in Gaza

Lebanon

As of 23 September 2024, the escalation of violence in Lebanon has seen reports that 558 people have been killed and over 1,835 injured including children, women and paramedics in the strikes in southern Lebanon.

The cross-border attacks have seen over 111,000 people in Lebanon become displaced since October 2023 – living in temporary shelter for over a year, with millions of children unable to continue their schooling.

Many people have been forced from their homes – stuck in their cars with their children while they desperately looking for safer place

Children deserve to enjoy their childhood.

How Plan International is responding

Our Plan International offices in the Middle East are rapidly scaling up their responses in Lebanon. We are responding by providing food, water, and first aid kits to displaced families and children.

Plan International Lebanon are working in close coordination with UN agencies as more than 200,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) have been forced to move from South Lebanon to Mount Lebanon. They are residing in over 200 evacuation centres, mainly schools. Our focus is ensuring that their basic needs are met through the distribution of mattresses, blankets, food kits and hygiene kits.

You can provide life-saving supplies to children and their families

The ceasefire in Gaza offers a critical opportunity, but the task ahead is immense. With the support of our partner organisations, we are working tirelessly to deliver urgent humanitarian aid to children and families affected by the conflict.

There is still so much to do and we urgently need support to provide life-saving humanitarian aid to as many people as possible.

Your gift today will go straight towards:

  • life-saving food, first-aid, water, and medicine for families who have lost everything.
  • shelter kits for families crossing the border so they have somewhere safe to sleep.
  • menstrual hygiene kits so women and girls can manage their periods with dignity.
  • child protection services for children who have lost their parents, and are at risk of child-trafficking and exploitation.
  • counselling for children and their families who have been traumatised.

Every hour we wait, even more children are at risk if they do not receive urgent supplies. Help now.
